Joint AAUP-UO Senate Panel on Academic Freedom 10 March 2004
On Wednesday March 10 during the second half of the Senate
Meeting from 1600-1730, the UO Chapter of the AAUP
and the UO
Senate will sponsor a panel on "Academic Freedom and the Patriot
Act". The meeting will be held in 100 Willamette. The panelists will
be:
Dave Fidanque (ACLU)
Chris Cardani (US District Attorney)
Deb Carver (UO Library System)
Ginny Stark (Office of International Programs)
The panel will be moderated by Peter Gilkey, Mathematics. So far, the topics
to be covered include:
1) Internet issues;
2) Student Records Subpoenas;
3) Student Visa issues;
4) Interviews of Foreign students;
5) Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act;
6) Library issues.
